Around 3pm yesterday my 5 year son old thought he would help one of my duck eggs to hatch!!!! he said he could see the egg moving in the bator. So to my horror I caught him the act and found a right mess! The chick was on its 28th day of bating but still had a large yolk sack attached, there was also quite a bit of blood where he had been removed from its shell. It's now been a long 12 hours and he's been left in the bator this entire time. His yolk sack has been absorbed but he's now left with quite a big scab on his belly button. Please advise me if you can on the best procedure to follow to give him the best chance. He seems very week and can only lie on his side or back but he does move around a little every so often a peeps and opens his eye if you open the bator.
Thanks in advance
Mike

I know this is an old post but I would love to know how it turned out. An almost identical situation happened here just yesterday and our little guy/girl is doing way better than I thought. He seems to have been prematurely hatched as well and looked a lot like the pics above. He is about 30 hours old and while smaller than the ducklings that hatched before him, is running around the house in short bursts, then he lies down for a minute. I really thought he would pass overnight but he surprised us.
