HELP!! Hen got into scuffle with rooster :(

HELP!

She's a 10 week old Barred. My husband put her in the pen with the 4 month old Welsummer roo and they were fine for 5 or so minutes. Then we heard a ruckus and I pulled her out.

I thought she was unharmed, but then I saw blood. Looks like he's split her open right behind her left ear spot.

We put some ointment on it and wrapped it with some gauze. She's sleepy

What should we do?? We don't think we have a vet who will see chickens in this area.

I would not wrap her up....I'd take that off asap.

Without it, she was scratching the skin flap

Can we see the wound? I wouldn't have pit them together yet. He may have been territorial or even wanting to breed if he hasn't have experience with older hens

I would not wrap her up....I'd take that off asap.

Why not? She's just going to scratch it with poopy feet if its not covered.

Personally I would do two things...

#1 Listen to people on here and save her

#2 Decapitate that rooster with extreme malice
