So I took in a hen. She's 1 year old and apparently has been limping for 6 months now. She eat normal with the others and acts normal minus the crazy limp. It's her left leg. I've tried checking for bumble foot and nothing. I've grabbed the top where it bends and that's when she seems bothered. I'm not really sure what to do considering if it was broken it was obviously broken a long time ago. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix her. Also I think she's overweight lol

I'm pretty new to chooks so my suggestions & thoughts are open to criticism. I had a lame hen more than a month back and she's fully healed now as she's able to get onto the roost with the other girls last night. I posted a thread regarding her lameness (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/lame-chicken-at-my-wits-end.1445658/) and included the things I've done in there. I have gotten pretty good suggestions which I followed and successfully healed her so it might be a good read.

Based on what you've written, her leg may not be broken but rather sprained. If it's at the bend it'll be her hock joint which can be put back in place if it hasn't been left like that for too long. However given that it may have been like this for 6 months, it might be too difficult for you to relocated the tendon as it may have become stiff but I guess there's no harm in trying but try to do it gently and see how it goes (see https://sites.google.com/a/larsencreek.com/chicken-orthopedics/). Following that, it's best to brace her leg and also place her in a sling to reduce the pressure on that leg. Try feeling the thigh muscle on that leg - is it completely wasted compared to the working leg?

Good luck!
