HELP- Hens attacking new Phoenix rooster!

I got your PM. Actually, I have only added ONE adult bird to my flock from outside, ever. That was Hawkeye. Two of the Wyandotte sisters were hostile, but he quickly put them in their places and kept order. I had no problems after the first day, but he was in quarantine for over a month before I added him to my flock. They could hear him crow but not see him, so they knew he was here. Dont know if that helped any, but I doubt it. I wouldnt keep him in with the hens for awhile.

thank you, I here you guys talking abut the keeping them away because they have germs. I got my bird pretty much in the same state.

ticks, you have to understand when it comes to germs - chickens 1 mile away from your house can have bad bad bad germs that can kill your chickens if they have never been exposed to the same germs and developed an immunity.

You have to be careful about introducing new birds to your flock. Every chicken has been exposed to different germs and can be carriers of very bad illnesses that cause fatal results in your chickens if care isn't taken with them.

It can take 4 - 8 weeks for illnesses to show up in new exposed birds. So, if your birds get sick within the next 30 - 45 days you know what happened and where it came from.

It is too late now I guess

They may be just fine. No you can't give them a medicine for exposure. You just need to be real careful and introduce them slowly. This way your hens won't peck him to pieces.

They are not acting like roosters. They are acting like hens. He will have to earn his place in the flock. They are not going to just give up and let him be the boss. He has to earn the right to be the boss. He will have to establish himself as the flock rooster over all the pecking order of the hens.
