Help!! How do you breed Mauve Orpingtons!?

This is an old post but wondering if I need a mauve rooster with the chocolate hens would I get a chocolate rooster from their offspring?

1/2 the cockerels would be chocolate

Since someone else resurrected an old thread, I figured why not continue.

Keeping with the mauve questions, I have a mauve cockerel and two mauve pullets I plan on breeding next year. I'd like to add barring to them to make cuckoo. I have a black cuckoo hen I want to breed with my mauve cockerel.

Am I right in that my first generation will all be black and the males will be barred? Will both males and females be split to mauve?

If so, what will breeding that F1 generation barred black male back to my mauve hens give me?

You never cease to amaze me. That makes my head hurt. A hot mess is what I'd call that pen. A literal box of chocolates.

All visually blue and black. All males will be split to Chocolate. Meaning the males will carry a gene for chocolate. If you breed one of the males to the chocolate hen they will throw chocolate chicks.

Ok, but I have chicks with this coloration… what color do you think they will be? They seem very light to be blue… @ColtHandorf

Not blue. Look to be splash Mauve? What pairing produced them?

So in the pen is a blue roo, with 5 choc hens, 1 blue hen, and 2 silver laced. The eggs all look the same so it’s a surprise when they hatch lol.
