Even if the shed is only a little bit on your property, it is probably there illegally since most smaller properties do have zoning requirements that prohibit anything being within x number of feet from the property boundary.
It is. City rules says no buildings within 5' of the property borders. I've been finding out all of the rules before I do anything so I know that I'll be within regulations.

Yeah, usually easements in cities are maybe 20 feet from the property lines. But, some areas allow for variances, maybe they had an agreement with the prior owner.

Still want to get it in writing to protect your property rights though.

City says that the front of the house has to be 15' back from the property line, garage has to be 20' back. No buildings withing 5', but a fence on the border is okay. Fence in the front can't be more than 4' high, no higher than 7' on the sides or back.
