I hope someone can help me. My 10 week old girl, George, has hurt her beak. I'm pretty sure she did it flying into the chicken wire fence around her run when I went in to rake the poo (I won't be doing that again with them in the run ). She's the skittish one to begin with. She is acting fine and is eating. That's how I noticed it because I brought them a little bowl of sow bugs that I collected and she LOVES them. I noticed something on her beak and upon closer inspection it was a cut with blood -- it's not dripping or anything. It looks like when you slice into your fingernail a bit. I don't know what to do. Should I put something on it? For humans you put hydrogen peroxide on stuff like this but she's just going to get it dirty again. Do these kinds of things heal on their own? The slice is about 1/4 inch below her nostrils... Help! I'm very new to chickens and I love them so much!!!
