Help... hurt leg...

I had a hen hurt her leg and she limped for a month then got all better. I never restricted her activity, she ran with the herd. It just may take awhile to heal. It's good idea to keep her quiet for a couple of days.

Is it a bee sting? Do you know what the bug looked like?
Did you see her being bitten/stung or have you just noticed that she has some swelling/limping?
Photos would be helpful

Catch her up and inspect between the toes for any obvious stinger if you think it was a bee. Look at the bottom of her feet as well. For swelling, you can soak her feet in a warm epsom salts bath to see if that will help sooth her. If she is limping badly, then limiting her activity for a couple of days can sometimes help. Place her in a wire dog kennel inside the run so she can be with the flock, offer her some poultry vitamins in her water if you have them.

Thanks so much for the info. She is our pet and we were upset. It was some kind of brown wormy looking thing. The area reddened and swelled between her second and third toe. She kept picking at her toe and standing on one leg and limped horribly. We put her in with her favorite friend in our tractor and kept them in for about 20 hrs. They were begging to come out and she is doing great in the dirt bath. What a scare.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but my 15 week old pullet is hurt pretty badly. I am not sure if I should leave her out with my hen, or if I should keep her in the house for a few days. My hen Red likes to push all the 15 week olds out of the house and make them wait until she eats and drinks a little and goes in herself before she will let them go to sleep. The other night though, she was pushing them all off the roosts after she had let them go to sleep. I heard the commotion and went to check on them. Apparently, Ruth had been pushed rather hard and was hurt, she can no longer roost or walk very well at the moment. I am worried her back is hurt. She is eating, and drinking, but having a hard time moving. I am afraid to leave her outside with Red, because Red chased her out of the run and it is hard for her to keep up with her flock.
