Help!!! I can get my call ducks to hatching day then they die. WHY

Sorry i was cleaning and watching the ducks. The baby i was allowing to relax and i kept checking on him and making him drink water, and i thought for about an hour he might not make it butttttt ive made a maricle happen and hes able to sit up but not like super stong but hes able to sit up for a little bit and lays back down, moving around and i have him in the cage with the other one that hatched today, hes cherping and like lazly pecking at the fuzzy like bedding. :D Im really happy that hes not like he was. It was really bad, pretty much like a wet noodle movement wise. Hes a strong lil bugger :D

The baby duck has died.... Someone filled the water dish and no one told me... i went to check on him and he was in the water dish

I'm kinda having the same problem... my call duck egg's get with in a week of hatching and mystery die b4 making any head way of hatching.... i try to make sure there's water in the incubator, temp normal turner new and turning normally. i was haveing really good fertility rate's this year and it's making me mad that no-then hatching... so what do you all do to help them make it to out of the egg.

i have 4 just days away from lock down. i am going to try to put the hole in them and see if that does it
i really really hope it does the trick.

on what day do you start lock down on a call duck egg.. so you put a hole and lock them down. any thing else

What is the hole for? Did I do something wrong

I was testing for fertility, had 3 eggs. Only one made it to lockdown. Everything on that egg looked great. What should the humidity be for call ducks. I do have a problem with inconstancy of humidity. Way to high, 75% down to 65% I'm going to leave it for now unless it drops below 65%. I've never hatched ducks, so am I doing okay? Day 27.

I just hatched four Rouen and I helped all four, two more piped but I couldn't get to them in time to help and they didn't make it. So I started to think about the ones I did help and it occured to me that none of the natural surroundings are in the incubator (Momma coming back to the nest with wet down, the pressure of her sitting on them, and the wind break of her being on them) I am using a Hovabator forced air incubator and I think I need to figure out how to turn off the fan for the last three to four days to keep the humidity up. But this also could cause problems after the hatchling has poked a hole in the shell by being too moist and drowning the little one. I had to actually peel away the shell little by little over time (24 hour period) and they all finally escaped the shell and survived. What about the pressure of the mother duck on her eggs? Not sure how to solve this issue but I have read where you use sandpaper to thin the shell around the area where the hatchling emerges. Might give this a try next time. I have used a spray bottle to mimic the wet duck down but the forced air dries too quickly which may cause the shell to harden as it dries. I noticed the shells of the ducks I helped were very strong/thick and difficult to peel as well as the membrain just under the shell. I hope you are able to get a few hatchlings to survive, here's a link to some helpful information http://www.duckeggs.com/hatching-eggs.html
