HELP! I cannot get my ducks to swim in the pond!

Help!! I moved my ducks out when they were 4 1/2 weeks old and now I have kept them in their run area for one week, to ensure that they know where their "home" is, where I want them to come to in the evening so that I can keep them safe for the night. But now that it has been one week, I want to introduce them to our backyard pond (which I have covered with a web of fishing line for protection) but they want nothing to do with it! I have made a path of green peas from the run to the pond; I have hearded them to the water; and I have picked them up and put them in the pond! All three times they swam for 15 seconds and ran back to the run area!! WHAT TO DO?!!

That's what my ducks and geese did last year. I couldn't get 'em to go in the water and stay & enjoy til they were about 3 mos. In the meantime they splashed around a kiddie pool. Still do-for some readon they enjoy it more. I had to have it unlevel though so one side was lower that way the ducks could get in easier.
