I start speaking German ( learned in the military). With in a few seconds they get frustrated and hang up.

OMG that's funny!
My husband engages them in 20 minute conversations before he finally tells them he's not interested. I'm not that patient, I hang up as soon as I hear that little dead space after I say hello. I have my office phone forwarded to my cell phone, so any time I see a number that's not local, I just mute the ringer and let 'em get my voicemail.
