Help! I have a chicken egg that turned out to be a duck! It is struggling!

Thank you, here is another picture that shows better. When he lifted his leg I could see it still attached with a small sac I think. If I put him in the bowl should i have him under a heat light or in my small bathroom with high humidity? If he is at day 25 or 26 does he still have a chance? Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it so much! He is darling!View attachment 2103029
It would be great if he can be in your incubator. I have the same kind and I can fit small dishes in mind. Yes he definitely still has a chance. The duckling in my avatar was on day 11 when it hatched, and day 13 when that pic was taken. It's a long story, but I had 2 groups of mallard eggs, one group on day 28 and one on day 9. The 28 day old ducks were hatching and it was going great when suddenly i realized the egg I marked in the day 11 group was zipping! I thought "I must've just marked that one wrong somehow." I figured it was some mistake. I went to bed. When I woke up at 5 to check on them, 4 more day 11 eggs had hatched! Perfectly healthy babies. I was appalled. I woke everyone up to come see. I had 9 eggs in each batch, I know they were on day 11 because I keep super meticulous records of everything. They all coordinated it by clicking to each other. Out of 18 eggs, 17 hatched. The one I lost was an older baby. So if you count the days they were alive the baby in my avatar would have been on day 13 in that pic, less than halfway. I am so amazed by that. Anyway, yours is way further along than mine were so he definitely has a higher chance. He looks very healthy too. Good job!

Your help has been amazing! He is now trying to get out of the bowl and seems strong. The only thing is he still has the cord attached - It looks like it'd drying up but I"m worried about him pulling it off

If he has absorbed all the yolk with just a thin cord attached, it will safely fall off on its own. There may be a tiny red spot on his bottom but it should close up on its own in a few hours.
But its hard to judge without seeing a picture.

Can you post a pic of it? I'm glad I could help you.

I am happy to say our baby duck is doing great! Thank you so much for your help! I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have made it without following your advice! Here's his cute picture!

Here is the little cutie! My son named him Beck and he takes care of him like its his child. He follows him already and climbs on his lap and shoulder. He's only out for a little bit at a time but he is thriving! I'm including a picture with his little chick friend. We have two black ones that like to stay with the duck and have learned to fly between the chick pen (10 little ones) and into the duck pen. One chick was aggressive to the duck and we don't let them stay together - plus it's too many! Does he look like a mallard or Roan? Thank you again for your help!

Welcome to BYC! If it is a duck they have longer incubation periods, so it would not be ready to hatch yet. You need to stop helping it, or it will probably die. Did it ever internally or externally pip on it's own? I would not enncourage it to hatch yet, if he does he'll probably hatch with an unabsorbed yolk sac, which could get infected or rupture. and kill him. Take out the paper towel because those actually draw out humidity from the egg, and rub some coconut oil on his membrane. Up the humidity to 70%. Fingers crossed for him, good luck, and congrats on your great hatch rate!
Thank you for your

I forgot to attach a picture of him
Aww have fun with your little surprise. Chicks are cute but ducklings are CUTE! If you plan on raising it I would suggest getting another one. Ducks love company.
They are so cute! Can his company be the two black chicks that snuggle up with him now? They seem to be non aggressive and happy together. I thought they were barred rock but now I'm not sure.
