Help! I have a chicken egg that turned out to be a duck! It is struggling!

Thank you for your

I forgot to attach a picture of him

They are so cute! Can his company be the two black chicks that snuggle up with him now? They seem to be non aggressive and happy together. I thought they were barred rock but now I'm not sure.
Aw! I haven't been getting notifications on this thread for some reason. Beck is adorable! I'm glad I could help you with him. It's usually a bad idea to brood ducks and chicks together because chicks need a dry environment and ducks always end up with a wet one. It really would be best to get another duck if you can find any ducklings locally. When he grows up he (if it's a he) will think he's a chicken and will mount your poor hens which will probably result in death for them. If it's a she it will probably be mean to your chickens. I think if you want to keep it you should get it a buddy while it's young. Its cute that the chicks like him.

That is good to know. I had no idea of course! I will look into a baby duck for company!

Awesome! You'll love the ducks! Make sure your duckling also has a deep enough dish to wash out his nares. (Nostrils) A regular chick waterer is too small.
