oh, i meant to address this comment as well....don't ever apologize for trying to learn. seriously, like anyone EVER knew everything or ever will! (well, except God, but that doesn't count, because i doubt He's going to post and ask!

that's one of the points of the forum, asking to learn and then while you are posting the question a TON of other people are reading it and learning WITH you. i GUARANTEE a TON of people are reading it that aren't posting and soaking up info right now.

one of the other points is getting to network with other chicken people and look, oh my gosh we just met each other and wowie! see how cool is that!

way cool! so your thread is double cool...now back to topic.....

you are doing amazingly well and momma chicken knows what she is doing. as long as daddy isn't beating them up, he can hang out with them. he may be quite helpful in rearing them as well. he will probably protect them and you'll just have to see how they do together. maybe wait a day or two to see.

Thanks again. and what a cool dancing rabbit.
The two chicks that i have know it out of 18. I let them roam free. about 3-4 weeks ago, the rooster starting attacking me when I approached the barn. I thought nothing of it. Then I found the eggs in the barrel. She layed 14 total. and starting sitting 3 weeks ago and today starting hatching. 9 now.
the rooster only goes after me. he leaves my wife and daughter alone. Go figure.
I spend the most time outdoors and see him more often.
He's very protective. Now i've have locked the hen and chicky's in the pen and in a few days i'll let him in.
thanks
