I kinda agree with the coot... but ive only seen them wild . ive got pictures of them and thats where i got the idea that it was a coot. But other than ducks im not good with breeds, lol. Cute little thing though

My first impression was coot but after looking at photos of juvenile grebes I'm saying pied billed grebe. The bill, forehead, and coloration are wrong for a coot.

Hopefully, you have called your local game warden to report the bird. If they are protected, it's best to let your game warden know you have one in your possession.
