I don’t have many clues as to who is who here! Anyone have any guesses? No.s 5 and 6 both have feathery legs. No. 3 has pinkish legs and No. 4 has slightly more birchen legs. No one has a head spot. No. 5’s wing feathers are growing in more slowly than the others. No. 1 looks like she has a tiny little feather pouf on her head. No. 2 is big and bossy and the most eager & easy to be handled. They should all be female and *probably* brown-egg-laying but not guaranteed. From our local feed store’s bi-annual chick sale. Any and all guesses welcome! Thank you!

4 is barred rock i believe

1-White Jersey Giant
2-Red Sexlink
3-Speckled Sussex potentially
4-White Jersey Giant
5-Gold Laced Cochin
6-Silver Laced Cochin
Oh wow! I think you may be right about no. 1 — I hadn’t even considered that breed (thinking wrongly that only yellow chicks are white hens)! I tend to agree with you on 3, 5, and 6. We had (and recently lost) a silver laced Cochin hen so would be nice if 6 turns out to be one. Hoping 3 is a Speckled Sussex but not sure. Not sure about 2 — maybe New Hampshire? Thanks for your guesses!! So helpful!

2-Red Sexlink
Not sure about 2 — maybe New Hampshire?

#2 is not a New Hampshire, because it is getting white feathers in the wings. A New Hampshire, or a Rhode Island Red, would be getting black feathers there.

I think it is a Red Sexlink (also called ISA Brown, Golden Comet, Red Star, and a bunch of other names.) The females have red down, but they grow white and red feathers--like a red bird with white trim. The white is usually in the tail, the wings, around the neck, and sometimes sprinkled on the rest of the bird as well.

Thank you so much for this!! You’ve made these little ones identities SO much clearer for me!
