Help identifying "Blue Mallards"

They look blue dusky to me. Here is a picture of my blue dusky Call ducks

These birds also carry a recessive pied gene which is why they have some white in them. Before the drake got his adult plumage he was colored more like the female (lighter colored head).

Oh man - I'm starting to see why people are so taken with Call Ducks! They're pretty and the genetics are so fun

They are definitely blue fawn colored but as to breed who knows? Maybe mallards, maybe pet quality call ducks, maybe a mix? If you like them keep them. Ducklings will be 50% blue fawn, 25% pastel, 25% grey (regular mallard) looking.

I agree that they are basically Blue Fawn Mallards in colour but I think that the one without the eye stripe (the drake) also has Dusky genes (which remove eye stripes in females and claret breasts in males). So I pretty much agree with what you have come up with using the Duck Calculator (which I absolutely love!). The duck may have one Dusky gene but not two (since she has eye stripes).

'True' Blue Fawns have the pencilling pattern on their feathers (the brown border round the edge and the v-shape on the feather) - yours don't have this, they have a lot more solid blue on them. They are handsome pair. Out of them you should get more like them, plus some with a double dose of blue (we call them 'apricot') plus some that look like Mallards (no blue). If the drake has two doses of Dusky and the duck has none then the offspring will only have one at most - but even though it is a recessive gene it can still express itself in part, so you might get some offspring that look a bit 'Dusky'.

One thing will be certain though - the babies will be gorgeous!!

Thank you everyone! I will post pix of the ducklings (well, the first round of ducklings :) when they hatch in a few weeks.

Would love to see these guys ducklings! Have you got really pied birds from them?
