Sry in advance if this is the wrong forum section for this.

So Ive spent the past few days hatching out tuxedo (pied) coturnix quail and I was wondering if anyone knows more about identifying colour than I am.

To my knowledge this one here next to the white one is a wild type tuxedo colour,

so when this one came out I was pretty certain it was a tibetan (one on the right in the second pic).

but when this one came along I was confused cause this one also looks like it could be tibetan. Is it just a wild type expressing it's genes differently or is it a lighter dilution tibetan?

I also have no idea what this guy is (bird on the left).

To me your first picture shows a rosetta and a silver or platinum (not sure on that one - definitely not white as the chick would be yellow). Your dark one is a tibetan. The fourth photo I think is another rosetta and the last one could be a cinnamon range (a diluted form of the tibetan).

This thread has some excellent photos of chicks and the adults they become:

Aren't they adorable?! :love Love quail chicks!
