Help! I'm looking for a dog breed that....

We had a smooth coat Shih-Tzu who was like Teflon...nothing stuck to her fur. And she lived to be over 18, with no health problems. They are hard to find, however.

I didn’t realize they came in smooth coat! Awesome!

How about a Border Collie? Medium sized dog. Incredibly smart and very trainable.

And definitely needs a job or will make one up which you may not like. Also super energetic. (However I love BC's and for the right person there are no better dogs. But in the wrong hands they are a disaster and pay the price.)

Preach. I knew a friend who got a BC thinking it was a lap dog. She had to give away the dog within 2 weeks of getting it because she could not keep up with the high energy demands. I still don't know what she was thinking.
