In this situation I would put a liberal amount of vegatable oil down her throat and massage the crop (craw). This should help the problem. Milk soaked in bread will also help clean the craw. I would try the vegatable oil first. Massaging the crop after putting oil down her will NOT hurt her so just get the oil mixed to start her pooping. Feed her bread soaked in milk ONLY for two days after she starts digesting the feed. One crop I did surgery on had 1/2 pint of corn and other feed in it. I was amazed at the amount of food the crop will hold on a chicken. It didn't FEEL like that much either.

I agree with much massage. If your hen is comfortable with you handling her, I have given my hens a hot bath along with massage. of course it is imortant to dry them afterwards and keep them warm. This works only if your chicken is comfortable being handled and you can keep her on your lap to be warm and comfortable.
Otherwise massage the crop as much as you can and feed as recommended in prior posts.

if you do a search on this site you will find so much great info!
read what miss prissy says, she has great advice.
yogurt is another good food.

many people can clear impacted crop without surgery. you can do it!

good luck!

I agree, Miss Prissy's advice was VERY helpful. One other really important thing to be aware of: if you have a 1cc syringe, do not use it to squirt the liquid down the chicken's throat! I found that out after I did it and was really, really lucky I didn't drown the poor thing trying to be helpful.
Drip the liquid onto the beak and she will generally 'drink' it.

Good luck! My girl was able to come through it, best wishes that yours will too!
