I have 2 male pekin ducks and I’m looking for help on their behavior toward each other. They are best of friends but at times specially with the pool. They don’t share it and it’s almost like they fight each other every time in the pool an one seems to always antagonize the other. Going for his feet or neck back etc. times where he will just chase him around antagonizing him or picking at him. Why do they do this an how do I stop it or make it better ? It’s almost my smaller pekin going at my larger pekin any advise is appreciated. The pool has been a ongoing battle but lately the antagonism is new.

thanks!

Bullying seems to be just a part of a bird's life. Other than physically separating them there is little you can do other than to make sure they have ample room. As long as damage isn't done I'd look the other way. Quite possibly, once dominance is thoroughly established, the bullying may stop. You don't say an age of the ducks. Are there hens available? Drakes will fight over the hens.

I’ve had the same issue. Ducks mate in water so pool time can get them acting up. I use 2 cement mixing tubs for pools when my boys act like this. They might still fight over one pool but usually one gives up when they find the 2nd pool. The tubs are about $15 at Lowe’s or HD, assuming you’re in the US.

the ducks are roughly 6 months old this is them. They have a half acre to roam and their house is big and their Run is big that they go in at night.I’m gonna get a larger pool an see if that helps. I have 4 chickens (hens) but they don’t interact. They all roam the property together but do their own thing.

Thank you. I’ll look into that and I’m gonna get them a larger pool. Yes I live in FL. LOL.
