Hi everyone!
I have some sad news. I have this three week old baby silkie chick. Last Thursday I noticed this on her bottom eye lid and assumed it was a cut from another chick that had gotten infected? The first picture is what it looked like last Thursday.

I started treating it like a cut, saline wash with polysporin but it continued to get worse until it looked like the second picture! I panicked and but Tobramycin on it and the next day it looked better (third picture) but then I noticed red bumps on her nose for the first time!

The fourth picture is today and it looks terrible again! Plus the red bumps on her nose are worse! I I was stumped until I was doing some research and saw some thing on Dry Pox. Could that be what this is? It says that dry pox are made worse by a moist environment so maybe all the saline soaks and antibiotic cream are making it worse? Should I stop putting creams and just let it be?

She is otherwise as happy and healthy as can be! Pecking, eating, pooping, drinking, exploring just fine. I would hate to lose her because I’m not treating this right.

I should also mention that I bought her and Three other chicks from a lady. The other chicks are fine with no symptoms or anything. The lady offered to take her back and give me other chicks as a replacement but this was the only partridge silkie and at first I thought it was a simple cut that I could heal.

Lastly, I have had her quarantined from the other chicks since the day I brought her home. I would love to bring her to a vet but there are no vets in my area that will take chickens so I’m sadly on my own. I also live in Canada so any medications that can be purchased at feed stores in other countries have to be prescribed by a vet here. The only thing I have is Tobramycin cream and anything that can be typically purchased at a drug store.

I really hope someone has seen something like this before! Any help to save this little one would be much appreciated.

It could be fowl pox or peck wounds. Do you still have mosquitoes out now? If it is pox, do not disturb the scabs. It should go away in 3-4 weeks. But I would apply plain antibiotic ointment to the eye twice daily. Tobramycin may help, or a vet could prescribe other antibiotic ointment or drops.
