Help-injured hen

Lucy here had a feather shaft break while molting and by the next day the other chickens had practically tried to eat her! What to do? I'm cleaning her up, keeping it irrigated and using aloe vera on the wound. A relative of mine is sending me some sulfa ointment to use, any other advice?

Separate her for a while and treat the wound like you would a human's (irrigate & keep clean). Don't apply any ointments with painkillers (ingredients ending in -caine).

She'll heal no problem. This isn't a serious wound.

Pen her alone and apply antibiotic ointment. Don`t let her back in the flock til she heals........Pop

We used a chicken saddle/bib on ours when she had an injury in the same spot. The rooster would still try to mate, and she would pick at/around her wound. Seemed to help the healing process.
