    We noticed this afternoon that Rose, our oldest Quail, has developed a limp and could hardly bear any weight on one leg.

    On checking her, we noticed swellings around her 'knee' joint.

    Could anyone advise?

    I'd try to puncture it. Never experienced something similar though, but to me it looks like it has pus inside, and in that case puncturing would usually be the way to go. And then apply some antibiotics afterwards.

    Thank you for your advice. We were going to have a go at treating it today. However, my fiancée found Rose on her side, eyes closed and struggling to breathe this morning and Rose died in her arms.

    RIP Rose.
