You can use corn starch to stop the bleeding. It's not as good as Quick-stop, but you might have it on hand...

Could the wound have been reopened? You might need to isolate him until you get the bleeding stopped.

You definitely don't need a hen beater. But yes, if you want to save him you'll need to keep treating topically and get some antibiotic. You'll have to get a broad spectrum of some type. I don't know, penicillin? Maybe the tetracycline will do?
