I have a 7 month old Light Brahma who has been laying regularly and well. However, I have noticed that when she lays she screeches. She seems to only do this when I or another chicken has just come in. She also blinks a lot and seems to be teary. Is she in pain laying her eggs? Does she just want space when laying? I want to figure this out so that I can help her if I can, so please help me!

Cickens tend not to make much noise when in pain.......shock yes.
One indication of pain is the closing of the lower translucent eyelid and drooping head.

That sounds exactly like what she has been doing. Is there anything I can do for her, and why might she be in pain?

She seems to only do this when I or another chicken has just come in.
She's just warning the other chicken to stay away from her nest.
The semi closed eyes can also be part of what I call the 'egg trance'...similar to the 'broody trance'.

This is what I've observed.....a bird will sit in nest prior to lay, she'll look around, screech at me or other birds that come near...but when that egg is near to actually emerging, she goes into a bit of a trance, eyes between closed and open, stands up when the egg comes out.

I have seen new layers squawk loudly when egg emerges, there can even be a bit of blood on egg with new layers, it may hurt but they can handle it and there's nothing you can do about it anyway. Just observe and learn and don't interfere.

Thank you!
