All the books I've read say that these things can happen. As the chick grows so does the problem. Kinda like a congenital defect. I've also read that a chicken can be fine one day and dead the next for no "apparent" reason. Seems to me the stress of having so many room mates can sure get a chick down. Sorry for your loss.
