Help! Is this a prolapsed vent?

She’s in the laying box now so I’ll leave her be till she comes out on her own then bring her inside. Don’t have a crate but I have chicken wire so will rig something up. And you’re right there’s definitely a tear. Will this heal if I keep giving her Epsom salts baths and oiling the area? I read you shouldn’t try to insert it back in when there’s still hard black parts on it.
You could grab her out of the nest once you have a cage fixed up.
Get the wound healed...might not be a prolapse but swollen wound tissue.
Try to get some antibiotic ointment....most households have some around.

The cut part make have been torn by the other chickens, and it may heal with the same cleaning and ointment you are applying. I would use plain Triple Antibiotic Ointment on tear and prolapse. If you want to stop her from laying eggs temporarily, you would need to place her in a darkened room or covered cage for 16 hours daily, including overnight. Then she should be out in daylight for 8 hours to eat, drink, walk around, and have her treatment. It can take 3 days or so to accomplish. It is up to you if you want to do that or not. I can’t see the cut part at all any more and the whole thing is bigger now.
