Help! Is this a rooster?

At 22 weeks a Production RIR would be crowing and have a much larger comb and wattles if it was male. I would say it is a female just taking time to lay. Or she may be laying in a location you have not yet found. Mine are 14 weeks and just getting little combs and wattles. I am guessing they will be at least 20 weeks before they lay. My BR's and Orp's are much more mature at 16 weeks. Fuller wattles and combs, they will probably start laying in next couple of weeks. They are squating and allowing my 21 week old Orp cockerel to mount them. Be patient. It will happen.

Here are some more pictures I just took if that helps. I tried to get the various feathers that were mentioned.

No problem! Glad I'm not the only one confused!

Absolutely a rooster! All the feathers mentioned by the other posters and his tail being curved and black indicate a rooster. The other roosters were chasing him because he is low man on the totem pole.

Thanks everyone! That stinks. Our first experience with chickens and we were sold 4 roosters and two hens. We only wanted hens!! That isn't going to work!

Bummer. If you plan on getting new pullets, you might try looking for a BYC thread for your state/area (in Where am I? Where are you? under Social) and ask folks where you might find a reputable source. I got sexed chicks at a feed store, and they are pretty much what I expected.

Thanks. I was trying to give a local guy business...but maybe the store is a better route.
