I bough 20 lavender orp hatching eggs and had them shipped here. They were in transit only two days and I had them shipped WITHOUT a heat pack because it was warmer this week. So the eggs look like they didn't have the easiest ride so I let them set a day and to see if the air sacs had come into position at all (because they were shipped on their sides) I candled them. Well I had 1 out of the bunch with what look like a day 4 or day 5 embryo in it BUT it had no blood ring???? I've hatched only once before but I had quitter, yolkers, and winners so I know what it all looks like, I just don't know what to think of it. A meat spot maybe? Should I keep it in? Take it out and open it up? I'm confused :/

What about veining?

No, no veining either :( it's really wierd. When they quit all the veins usually are hard to see BUT there's always a blood ring. There was no blood ring either. I could take a picture. But out of 22 eggs that's the only one that had that.

A couple of my early quitters in my last hatch never produced a blood ring. They were just black blobs floating in there.

The size just doesn't make sense unless she had the eggs sitting out in warmer temps you know? :( that stinks. I hope none of my others have started and then quit and are just too early to tell. That's kind of upsetting :(

It definitely sounds like that one had some warm temps for a while to start developing that much. Maybe a broody had it hidden?? It's weird that it would be just the one egg.
