HELP! Kitten in the Christmas Tree

Wow, that is a tough one. With one or two cats a large crate with a litter box would work for a week or two, but with five? Whatever you do put up I'd anchor it to surrounding walls with twine or wire or it will COME DOWN. Those tree stands aren't meant to be used with climbing felines! A basement maybe, spare room?
Good luck,
Mac

Thanks guys! Keep the suggestions coming. (They may not work, but they keep me smiling) I have to get off of here now and defend the tree!! LOL Plus, we had an ice shower this morning and everything is coated. Gotta' skate to the mail box and to the chicken house! See ya later!

We aren't going to put up a tree this year, and cats are one of the reasons.

The year Scooter was a yearling he climbed the tree, and pulled off the glass balls to play soccer with down the hallway. As each one would shatter he'd push the buts for a minute and then go get a new ball. That year I lived in a house with a sliding glass door to the back deck. The tree was moved outside, onto the deck. I could watch the lights twinkle but it was safe from Scooter. It snowed around Christmas that year, and boy was that tree pretty! Covered with snow the lights glowed through and it was just lovely.

Current yearling cat doesn't try to climb our tree, but we have the fragile ornaments on the top of the tree and the cat-safe ones at the bottom of the tree.

Haven't used tinsel since my first cat, Puff-n-Stuff, left me tinsel wrapped 'gifts' in the litter box....

Cat-safe ornaments on the bottom of the tree. Fragile on top.

We put bells around the bottom of the tree. The cats know they're in trouble when the bells start jingling.

Otherwise, we resign ourselves to stealth cat attacks in the parlor. Sorry.

If you get it figured out please tell me. I am having the same problem. I have thought about an electric fence but it would hurt the little boogers and make the tree ugly.

Oh God Christmas trees and cats!!!!!!! For years I have been battling this delimna to no avail. I was hoping that the only cat Cocoa would be getting to old for this(he is over 10 now). In the past I have found ornaments on the floor and believe it or not they would bat them around and sometimes I would find an ornament hidden somewheres months later! I have had cats bust my nativity figurines trees knocked to the floor and etc. These antics have been done by other cats I have had. Well I have just a little artificial tree and so far so good. Well Cocoa may be old but not quite over being evil. He has taken to knocking off my stuffed character dolls of the Rudolph cartoon. I have a few of them but he seems to like my new one of the elf(the one that wanted to be a dentist) he likes to play with him. So good luck to all you cat owners and I have one piece of advise buy unbreakable ornaments!

We have an eye hook in the corner of the room and EVERY YEAR we have to tie it up. We have already had out wacky cats remove 2 branches from the tree and take lights down. One of the cats just lays under it and chews on branches

Since we tied it up...no more worries.....we let em have fun and it keeps standing.
