HELP Left incubator lid off for several hours

I left my incubator lid off for 2-3 hours. They are around day 14. What will happen?
they probably will be ok. I have never hatched, but it does not sound like it will damage their growth to much- I am not saying that it will not affect them, but candle them in 24 hours and make sure there is still movement. How did the lid get left off?

Pure stupidity. I had to bring some eggs ready to hatch out to my garage and noticed the duck brooder was a mess. Cleaned that out then one thing led to another and I didn’t go back into my room until I went to bed and noticed the lid was off

Well I’m sorry this happend, but I’m glad you caught it

It takes a long time for the core temperature of the egg to cool down enough to kill the developing chick, so I think they'll be fine. Higher temperatures are much more dangerous to a developing egg than cooler ones.

Thanks. I’d like to say this will never happen again but knowing myself, it probably will.

Phew. Hopefully the hatch. It’s taking everything for me to not open it up and candle them now to look for movement but I know that’ll just make things worse. Should I still put them in lockdown on day 18 or wait a bit longer?

I'd candle them because I like to candle. I candle my eggs way too much, even the shipped ones. I'd definitely candle them on day 18 and if the air cells have started to draw down on one side then I'd put them on lockdown.
