Weather or not contact was made with the Birds? I am sure you wore the same shoes and clothes with all the birds......Chicken illnesses are highly contagious.....Something can be spreading in your flock?

I hate Doom and Gloom myself........Highly possible!?

I'm so sorry that you lost your Hope in just such a short time, but that is how it happens in some of our flocks. At least she didn't suffer too long. The bantams, and pretty much any of them can get to us when they are sick. I only have a few bantams remaining in my mixed flock, but they are my favorites. Having a necropsy performed by your state vet or poultry lab is something that many do to find a cause of death, and to rule out some illness that could affect other chickens. The body would need to be refrigerated in a plastic bag to preserve it. Here are 2 links that might help with that:
