(Actually I tried to candle day 7 with a very poor light)
I need help determining life or quitters.
Doris never seemed like a committed broody but I couldn’t stop her from sitting when she should have been roosting. Unlike Eggsmerelda who is a vicious broody, Doris is pleasant seems to just be a nest hog. I have never allowed a broody to sit but this time I decided to give it a go. I haven’t been very confident because one of Doris’s strange things is she still lays eggs. She even
laid one 2 days ago. She is in a private coop and run built inside the main run. Others have no access to her nest.
Today is day 13 if my calculations are correct. 4 of the eggs are Marans, so hard to see but I read somewhere if you can see the air bubble but nothing else that it’s worth taking the chance that it’s viable. When I collected the eggs today I thought she had pooped on the ones in the middle of the nest. It turned out it was a crushed egg. The mess has dried hard already on the messed eggs. Is it absolutely a fail about to happen if I let her try to hatch the messy ones?
Of course now my cell is acting up. I can’t paste my YouTube video! I’m going to post this now. I’ll try to post the video in the next comment.
