Hey, I have 9 chickens but as of 6 days ago (Wednesday) I noticed that my Brahma had a limp. I don't know if she had it Tuesday because it was so hot and I only went out briefly, but I know for sure that she wasn't limping on Monday. She's about a year old now but when she was a chick she was bitten by a rat on the foot she's now limping on. I took care of her foot which healed but ended up looking a bit wonky, the side was permanently larger and one of the toes is stuck in place. The foot wasn't causing her any problems, but I was thinking that maybe it got reinfected. I've soaked her feet in ice water a couple times but I'm not sure it's done anything because I don't see any swelling. I was hoping that she'd get better but her limp appears to be getting worse. Now because of the way she's limping and the fact that she doesn't seem to mind when I put pressure on her foot I think that it could be a leg injury. Does anyone think they know whats wrong with her and what I can do to help her? She's eating a normal amount, so far the other chickens aren't bothering her which is surprising but I separated her so she wouldn't have to walk around as much.

Here are the pictures of her feet, the far one is the one that she's limping on

When she walks her leg bends so much that her left elbow touches the ground, its gotten a little scraped up because of that

Hi there i am sorry she is giving you trouble.

This doesn't look so much like a foot problem.
Hold off on using ice....that is probably not a good idea.

What do you feed her?
Have you brought any new chickens in recently?

I just feed her Purina Layena crumbles, we actually just got two new silkies but she started limping before we got them. Something that I forgot to mention before is that she's been regrowing a lot of feathers on her back and neck almost like she's molting which is weird because she's only a year old. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with this

I've had mareks before (it sucked) but she's vaccinated. What kinda of vitamins should I give her? Also if it's a vitiam deficiency why aren't the other chickens showing symptoms, they're all getting the same stuff. Personally I think it's an injury but I don't know weather it's infected, twisted/sprained, bruised or broken.

Can't see it very well but can we get another pic of her feet? The pic of her one foot (2nd), looks like a scab which could be bumble foot. I can't seem to enlarge the picture to get a better look.

If it is, soak in Epson Salt bath to sooth & soften the "scab" which could be removed VERY CAREFULLY. There's a thread on it & if you attempt to remove the "plug" be prepared with disposable gloves, antiseptic, vet wrap, gauze, neosporin ointment....I wouldn't try the surgery until last resort, I've read where some keep soaking & it softens the "plug" where it can then be easily removed.

Vitamin deficiency will not affect all in the same brood, I had 1 out of 38. Vitamin B Complex or PolyVisol without iron (a drop 3x day), feed her riboflavin rich food; spinach, beef liver, hamburger, salmon, tuna, mushrooms, plain yogurt, etc...
