So i have two mallard eggs they are ready to hatch. Was not sure as to age so i stopped turning once i saw internal pip about 5 days ago. They both externally pipped sometime last night. I noticed it when I got up to check at 4 this morning. I went ahead and peeled back a small piece of shell to get a look at what was going on inside. Why were these babies taking so long? Are they just to confortable? Anyways I noticed the air membrane the internal pip side is drying and shriveling down into the shell. Is this normal? This is my first time hatching. Never ever done this before. Humidity has stayed at 70 this past week I have had them. And the temp kinda fluxuates between 95 and 102. I am using a makeshift incubator I threw together when I found the eggs last tuesday. They are still alive I have done something right. Will I have to help them?

Do you have a fan in the incubator by chance? If so it's drying them out.
