Can someone give me the quick lowdown on hatching duck eggs. Mama duck was eaten and the eggs she was sitting on were all cracked except 2. I candled and saw that at least one was still alive. I stuck it under my broody chicken for now, while the incubator warms up. I don't know how old they are. One of the eggs that was cracked open, the duckling had feathers on it, but still had some growing room. Maybe around day 20?

The one had some egg yolk that got on one side of it from one of the eggs that got cracked open by whatever creature that got into the nest last night.

Since I don't know what day she was on for sitting on them, what would you guys do for turning them?

Just try a soft paper towel with out water to wipe it off but probably will be fine.

And please work on getting your ducks a secure house to nest in and sleep in at night. Predators never give up and will be back.

I can't get my ducks to come off the pond at night. I would lock them up if I could get to them or if they would follow me. When you get within 4 feet of them they run/fly for the water. The whole 1/2 pond is fenced in, but obviously predators can climb over. If you have any advice for getting them to follow me into the barn, I'll take it.
