help me choose a breed!!

Ok. I called the hatchery, and they dont have half the breeds i wanted so my options are sex links, blue rock, bielfelder, wyandottes, and favorelles

but I dont want a sex link cause the tend to not live as long

I personally would get Wyandottes and or Blue Rocks.

Ok. are sapphire gems the same as blue rocks? and how is that breed? cold hardy, heat tolerance, egg production?

Blue Rocks are Sapphire Gems. I have one. She is gentle, sweet but not overly affectionate, and lays a huge egg almost every day.

I have heard wonderful things about Bielefelders as well as far as temperament. Our Wyandottes are gentle but a bit standoffish. They lay pretty regularly. I love my Faverolles, they would probably be ok if you got 2 of them. The definitely don’t lay as much as a Blue Rock though.

I doubt about it. It seems no other chickens will be favorelles' friends.

That doesn’t apply to all Faverolles. Mine are pretty high in the pecking order

I agree. Each induvial bird will have it's own personality which may follow the overall breed reputation or not.

They live about 5-10 years, and technically should be autosexing depending on breeder.

I think I've heard they are Sex Link.

I have an 8 year old Golden Comet that still lays on occasion... (though she just hatched a chick and is having the time of her life being a mother for the first time).
