Help me choose a friendly breed to group with silkies!

eh, NM Spitz are into chilling in trees, and flying a bit. Can't do a spitz, I need an affectionate mild tempered bird I can contain safely in my residential back yard without fear of it taking off on me.

Also, Can you microchip chickens?

Hi Amyblue - check out the Cream Brabanters on H & H Poultry and Ideal. They look like the Spitz but the Brabanters look betterbred to me. Have the same mohawk and spots. Darling.

The Spitz have lost a lot and need improving.

marans- I have a marans now that was raised with silkies and did fine, but I wouldn't trust her with silkies she wasn't raised with
Orpington (buff color)- my Buff Orpingtons I would never trust with my silkies unless raised together
Star - I had golden sex links (another sex link)- aggressive will never have again
wayandotte - agressive will never have again

The breed I recommend with silkies is:

cochins. I had the bantam cochins. You couldn't ask for a more docile, sweet bird. I am sad I sold mine. I don't know if the large fowl are as sweet. The only thing is that silkies and cochins go broody a LOT. Then they won't be laying for you.
