LOL! I looked through the thread, but everyone seems to have gotten what they wanted from Metzer, so I don't really want to horn in. Think there is any way they would have room for another pair?

Oh yeah, the order isn't gonna go in until the 14th. Go ahead and order on ours. Maybe all of you northern/eastern folks can work a deal to have someone pick them up so the others don't have to drive so far to get theirs.

I think Shelley is putting in the order, so I assume they'll go to her house - she lives in Columbia, Adair county (me too, only on the far side of the county from her.)

I'm going to Sano auction tonight with a bunch of chickens - I am hoping I might find some day old duckies (or two or three days old) in the breeds I want, then I can just toss them in with these guys

If you go to Metzers site it'll say which ones you can do that with - but the pilgrims are one you can't do it with

any of them that have an asterix * it says you can only order pairs or straight run.

That is one reason I went with toulouse, too - so I could get the trio instead of a pair or two pair of pilgrims. But, you could get a pair of pilgrim and an extra toulouse female, if you wanted to try that.

edit --- from their site.... (italics added by me, cause I missed that the first few times reading it cause I tend to be slow that way

)

For the White Chinese, Embden, Toulouse and African you can only order up to two more females than males (pairs, one female, two females, one male and three females, two males and four females, etc.). The remaining breeds can only be sold straight run (not sexed) or in pairs. Canada geese are only sold straight run. Call if you have a question.

so with those breeds listed there, you can get extra females - but the others (pilgrims, and the others not listed here) you have to get a pair or straight run.

No idea, the poultry expert

at the local feed store has them, and she says she absolutely loves her toulouse. I've only had experience with white embdens (as a kid) - and I KNOW I don't want those.

Okay, now I'm being slow! LOL. If I were to order a pair of pilgrims, that would be 28.60. (Do you have to pay the sexing fee since they are sex linked?) Adding on one Toulouse would add 10.65 so for three geese I would pay 39.25. That's not bad at all. Now, I just have to talk my mom into it.

Hmmm one of the ducklings is shaking her head, scratching at her bill and staggering - like she has something stuck in her nose (maybe got a snootful of water?) should I be worried or will she work it out, do you think?
