help me choose which ones to keep.... Blue Swedish ducklings....

I've been dying for two days waiting on them to come in the mail - I obsessed that they would be dead or some wouldn't make it. I hardly slept.

I didn't want ducks, until I saw Cindy's Call Ducks (I got five of those) and then I wanted more ducks, and now I want geese - gonna get a trio of goslings in march.

I hope the chickens don't get jealous

I've already been getting rid of some of the extra chickens to make room for the ducks and goslings

I had way too varied on the chickens, anyway, I'm narrowing it down to a few breeds and concetrating on those. Mostly dual purpose.

I have a BIG delaware roo, and I'm getting 15 dellie pullet chicks in March from Cackle to go with him. Right now he is in with some light brahma girlies.

Then I have my original mixed flock - they get to stay.

The bantam cochins and the like are all going. I already got rid of all the oegb and dutch.

After tonight I'll have a coop all ready for these guys to go out into when they get too big and stinky for my sewing room. Then we're putting in a pond this summer, but I'll have a pool for them until then.

come on summer!!!!

eta - I was torn between pilgrims and toulouse - I think I'll go with toulouse until I figure out if I like geese or not - they are cheaper

Then I can always order some pilgrims if I like the toulouse.

eta again - and I think I want some muscovies

The pilgrim geese from Ideal are only like 13 dollars a piece. Plus I head that the are an overall "pet" goose. (AKA friendly.) Then again I heard that about silkies too and my little roo turned out to be the devil!

A lady we used to buy hay from had Pilgrims and they were super friendly even to strangers. Like dogs they'd send up the alarm when you drove in, running around honking and carrying on but as soon as you got out of the truck they were ran right up to you and wanted to be petted.

I haven't put my order in yet - we are ordering (a bunch of us from KY) from Metzers - the only problem is, Metzers will allow you to only order pairs of pilgrim, and I would rather have a trio.... Not two pair.

I wonder how a pair of pilgrim would do with an extra toulouse female... ?

I heard/read the main difference in females between the pilgrim and the toulouse is that the toulouse is a bit more fluffy feathered.

Not sure how character is different (friendly or not)

You wouldn't happen to know of another fellow Kentuckian wanting to order a few geese would you? The boxing equivalant from ideal is 8, so if someone else wanted some geese we could see about going in together?

Well....

I know Shelley has enough folks on the Metzers order, so maybe if you are closer to FrChuck (he also wants Pilgrims) then you two could go in on the Ideal order - since he'd have to travel all this way to pick his up. Even without Chuck we'd have enough on the Metzer order to make the minimum - try PMing him.
