I made this brooder for quail but don't plan on getting quail again. I'd like to repurpose it for chickens, but as is, there is not enough height (about 9 inches) to accommodate chicks for more than a week or 2 at best. The only thing I've come up with so far is to cut out the bottom hardware cloth, and mount the entire thing on top of a box a couple of feet tall made of 1/2 inch plywood. I used air driven staples which won't be easy to extract from the pine wood.
I'd love to hear ideas about how I could best convert the quail brooder into a chick brooder. Thanks.
