Help me ID these ducks!

Hello!

As stated in the new member thread I was thrilled to receive these two ducklings a couple of weeks ago as their owner didn't research the animal properly and could not take care of them.

As such, I have no idea what type they are so I was hoping I'd get some answers on what I have!

There are two ducklings, one white and one black.

They are Muscovies!

After really looking at them, You know... It could be a pair the White looks slightly bigger and the black pied looks smaller and seems to have a little more feathering. It they are the same age they are probably a pair!

Thanks guys, I'm not 100% but I think they would be the same age.

Can you tell which is the male/female?

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for curling tail feathers (assuming that works on muscovies)

Also, would these be fine living with a mallard breed in the future if I got some?

Nope, they wolnt get tail curls. The male will be about twice the size as the female. He will also get more caruncling, red, around his eyes and face then the female will.

Haven't ever owned a Muscovy in my life but yes those are muscovys
