My baby duck hatch out about 5 minutes ago and his cord is still attatched to the egg and a little ball of yolk left. Half of the egg is left and he's moving around everywhere and I'm scared he's going to rip it off and hurt himself. What do I do???

Leave it be. Once they hatch, the cord dries out and eventually breaks. It doesn't take very long - usually less than an hour. That is my recent experience anyway.

so how's ur duckling now? can u post a picture of ur cute little ducking? hehe. btw, congrats!!

Do I leave the shell that is still attatched to him on too then?? It's a pretty big piece. He's pushing on the shell with his feet and I'm scared he's going to rip the cord from the shell. Will he be okay if this happens?

Yeah - many of ours have done that. Some drag the shell around the incubator for a couple of hours, some kick the shell off in minutes, but relatively few come clean out of the shell right when they hatch. I would leave it alone. Nature worked this system out a long time ago.

Here's my first baby that hatched at 7:00 this morning!! Such a little poser!! My first ducky I have ever hatched. Only about 40 more eggs to go from 3 different mama ducks. Thanks for the info on my other duckling!!!

Very cute!!!! Congratulations
