Help me pick a new breed!

If I could get more of any breed it would be Speckled Sussex. My two are my friendliest birds, they are about 1.5 years old, and they are still laying.

If they free-range they will get dirt on them, but they usually take care of their own grooming. If you dont want them for showing, you wouldnt have to worry about it.

Large Fowl Ameraucanas are nice

The girls who insist on supervising all my outdoor activities are my Speckled Sussex; they're super friendly and "talk" all the time, too!

I think that you should go onto a site with the breeds listed and their description about how often they lay and what size eggs. This site (BYC) has a great description of each breed alphabetically. It tells which are cold hardy, friendly, bear confinement, etc. I have decided on Salmon Faverolles, Langshans, and Delewares for my next adventure. Cochins are beautiful but not very prolific. Most of mine now are Cochin mixes and are my faves!
