Other Suggestion, Faverolles. A great breed, the roosters have great personalities, hens and lay a good number of eggs and they have enough meat on themselves too. I think they'd be a great breed for you.

I raised leghorns once, and had to get rid if then due to their combs getting frostbitten. I looked for Rosecomb leghorns, and haven't found many breeders. Though all the breeds you have chosen could use more breeders, I think you will have more of a market for the Rosecomb Leghorn, because there are fewer people working with them.

I want the breed you have!

By the looks of your avatar it's light sussex. Exactly what I'll be hatching next spring.
Supossedly a breed with everything your looking for, cold hardy, dual purpose and intelligent (as far as chickens go).

Yup, just checked out your web page. I do like the light sussex.
Wyandottes is my pick then since ya got my first choice already.

Sultans I've had...they're not good at free-ranging because they cannot see predators because of their crests. They were also not hardy at all, didn't lay well and did not have much (if any) meat on them.

I've also tried large fowl Faverolles...I had whites & salmons. I had issues with them dying in the heat of the summer...

The standard RI red rose combs are less common than the buckeyes, which should increase the marketability of hatching eggs and of pullets/chicks. I believe the good ones should have the beautiful dark dark red color and are large enough to be decent dual purpose. There is a RI thread on here. Check it out.
