I work at a wholesale retail store and my co worker had a customer who was inquiring about anyone who sold fresh farm eggs and she told them that I and my family did. The customer boosted and was talking about her sister or a friend who raised eggs also and how they had to get rid of their rooster every 9 months because they were getting blood spots in the eggs. I laughed and told her that you don't need a rooster to get eggs from the hens. She rebuted me and told me that's not what she was told and taught. I told her that I have been raising chickens for about 5 to 7 years and for the last 2 we have not had a rooster and getting 20 to 30 eggs a day. I even told her that I would bring her in a free dozen if she wished. Then I was treated like I had an illness that was infectious.
But on the bright side I did sell 12 dozen eggs today to a regular customer. We were really worried how we were going to get rid of these wonderful eggs.
I forgot what my point was with my ranting and raving but it was while she was so misinformed about chickens and their laying habits she was saying that she was getting 2 dz eggs for three dollars and thought she was being robbed. I told her that she had to consider the feed the electricity to keep them warm on cold days and nights that we have been having. But she shruged her shoulders like she didn't care. People like this is why farmers and livestock farmers are a rarity.
