Help me save my dog!!!!!!

I was first thinking obstruction but if she's producing some stool that's probably not the case. I know somebody that really went through the mill with their dog. The vet diagnosed her with cancer, and her kidneys were shutting down and everything. They cut her open as a last resort and low and behold she had chewed up one of those "indestructible" Kong toys and it had her blocked up.

Did they do x-rays on her Throat? But if it is a piece of wood of something not of metal they would not be able to see that unless they went in and checked it. I needed to put my dog down. I won't go into details but if she is in pain do what you think is best. I know you love her and wouldn't want her to be in pain. I hope you find out something.

My MIL would cook rice and hamburg, mix them together and hand feed her dog. Just a little at a time. She had it look like baby food by the time she was done mixing it.

My heart goes out to you. I will say a prayer for you and your dog.

When my cat was in end stage renal failure I used slippery elm bark to soothe the sores in his throat and to coat his stomach.

It helps with all kinds of eating disorders, allergies and intestinal upsets.

It's sold in health food stores as a powder that you mix with water. I'm not sure of the dose for your dog, but I used to use 1 tsp/day for my cat.

Oh man, that's so heart breaking. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I personally went through something "similar" with myself. I've been having chronic stomach pains...every time I would eat something my stomach would hurt so bad, I would either get nauseous and not be able to keep things down or I would have to eat very very small amounts and deal with the pain. I lost a ton of weight, and was very weak. After 8 months of medical tests, doctors finally found that I have lesions through out my GI tract which (if untreated) can lead to Gastric Cancer. Luckily for me, the biopsy results of the lesions were benign (but I'll have to keep getting them checked until they heal). I just wanted to tell you this because I've been through countless doctors and specialists and they all told me it was "nothing." I'm so sick of medical professionals not taking their jobs seriously and just being so lazy and careless towards their patiences. I'm sure Vets can be the same way...

Please DO NOT give up! As long as your dog is happy and active there is no reason to jeopardized her health any further unless matters call for it... I'm not sure what medical procedures they can do for a dog (without risking anesthesia), but demand every single test possible [within your financial limit]; blood tests, MRI, CT scan.... can they do an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy (technically you are not put completely under...)? X-rays will not show anything involving deep tissue (hence look into the MRI and CT scans), but an X-ray using Barium can detect blockages as well .

Is it possible to insert an IV and/or feeding tube? I like idea of feeding her that stew that someone previously posted. I would try that, but maybe not add all the ingredients at once...I would definitely hold off on the chicken skin for now though...if she's having an issue keeping things down, I would stay away from food containing a lot of fat and grease until she gets use to eating more. Plain yogurt and rice are great.... maybe find a protein supplement to add in to water you are feeding her.

There is also an organic honey that's suppose to have great medical benefits I'm not sure if honey is good for dogs, but it's called Raw Manuka Honey and it comes in different "medical levels." It is expensive, but I heard great things about it. I think the organic section in Wegmans actually carries a lower level of it...that many be something you would like to look into..

We almost lost our 5 year old male Dobe last year. He had too many things wrong with him to mention, but no one could figure out a specific problem. It ended up being blockage caused by pica. Tell your vet to give your dog the medicine that they xray in stages to see how far and where it is in their digestive system. They give it to them orally and then xray them every now and then (a schedule the vet will know) and the substance shows up on the xray. They track it. When it hits a block in the intestines or anywhere it will show being in the same spot as the last xray. Dogs are bad about eating things that are not digestable. I've seen undies, fish lures, golf balls and other oddities removed surgically from inside dogs.

Please also see if you can very quickly find a highly regarded holistic vet - they have all the regular training and then some. If needed, call one I know in PA for a recommendation on how to track one down in your area. 215-493-0621 Animal Healing Center. They are open most evenings from 5 till 8 I think so you can still call today. Explain how dire and that you need helping finding a vet right away.
Sending good wishes and hopes that you can get to the bottom of what's wrong. Sadly, sometimes even an extreme allergy will make a being deathly ill but once the aallergen is discovered you can see a dramatic turnaround.
Give your dog a bit of Rescue Remedy in his water - sounds like he could use some stress relief.

I'd have a vet draw blood and send the specimen or sample exactly as required by the form, to HemoPet in California, Dr. Dodds. I have my weims tested annually as two are Hypothyroid and she is very thorough and has a personal response for every animal she tests for...explain symptoms and ask prior to drawing the blood what they recommend testing for, look at this site, find, print the form and get ahold of the staff asap:

first i want to say thank you everyone for taking the time to help us!!! She has had blood work and the test came nothing but she is anemic. thats all. she has had everything you can think of pumped in to her veins. the college by us is starting a vet tech program i was thinking of calling and seeing if i could bring her in during a class and see if they could do anything. the biggest problem is i hate to say the money factor. i just dont have it to spend on her anymore. and that kills me. she did keep a cup of water w/bounceback down yesterday. but she spit out the both we gave her. ive goin try again to day. what about trying a supplement for calves that has a gelling unit that reduces fluid loss?
