Help me sex my silkies

Oh man those are some strange looking silkies...(hatchery) I'm used to the show kind though. I saw a least 1 rooster.

I know I saw 3 roos...the only pullet is the little one in the first pic. I would say that someone at the hatchery jumped a fence...cochin, possibly.

You could always build a small bachelor pad for your little silkies to enjoy by themselves. Without hens to compete for, they will mostly live in harmony. That big guy is gonna be too much for your little pullet, though...you may want to think about that. He will squish her flat and rip out her poofy hair :(

I dunno...these "bantams" don't seem to be much smaller than my normal hens, and they are a month younger than my oldest ones. Only the rooster dwarfs them. I have hens that are bigger (rocks) and ones that the same size (tetra tints and a golden comet).

Are you sure these are roosters? At 8-9 weeks old, Columbus (the big roo) had a very very large, and very red, comb. And he was crowing. I know the hen looks very hennish, but I have hens with combs as big as these "roos."

Well, I am as sure as I can be. Silkie pullets do not even think about getting a comb/wattles until they are about 20 weeks old. But, as the old saying goes....you won't really know until it crows or lays an egg. Likewise, silkie roos don't crow very early either.

I see one definite pullet...the white one in the second pic.

The other in the second pic, roo.

In the top pic: black, roo....white, roo (the one behind the one next to the red pole) The buff/red looks like a roo, also but, I would need a head on shot of that one to make sure.

Thanks, my daughter will be upset as we are only allowed to keep the girls, will have to find nice homes for the others.
