Help me shop for a Kitchenaid

Go back and look at both product descriptions on the Walmart website again. I looked at them for 5 minutes to find the difference and i checked it 3 times. They are the same product with the same model number. There is no difference in the 2 that you provided the links for.
As for what size to get, bigger is always better.

Sorry, I retract that statement. One is model K45SSWH and the other is K45WSSWH.
I still don't see any other major diffences, so I"m going to look it up on Kitchen Aid's website and get back to you.

Sure, but like when planning a chicken coop, always allow for expansion of the flock or in this case baking.

After some research, here's what I found from amazon.com

One Question Answered, June 9, 2005

Very interested in this mixer, but I wondered how it differed from the K45SS, which seemed the same except for the price. So I inquired at KitchenAid.com; it seems the two are identical, except that the K45WSSWH was made for Walmart and includes an extra spatula. Same mixer, added accessory, lower price = 1 on order.

Good detective work there, puppy.

Oh Terrie, dont tell me that! The only expansion around here from baking is my butt.

Im leading towards the Artisan now. If anyone thinks they have to get a Pro600, they are in the Outlet store at the Kitchenaid website. The red ones are $299 plus $15 shipping, and you can send in a $40 cash rebate.

We have the Artisan and it does fine for what we do. I have the meat grinder attachment and the Artisan has enough power to run it OK. I'm sure the 600 would just kick butt but 275 watts is enough to get the job done for me.

If you're thinking of the Artisan, I have one that I love to death. I use it several times a week for mixing pizza dough, making cookies and grinding meat. I don't remember what size/capacity mine is but I've had it for 3 or 4 years and love it. My husband didn't want to buy it for me cause he thought it would be a countertop decoration. I surprised him and now we are both glad that we bought it. I don't know anything about the Pro models so I can't help with that question, sorry.

Puppy, have you made bread with it?

Best price Ive found so far for the Artisan is at the Kitchenmade site, where its $300 $ $15 ship; they have a $40 rebate check you can send in, so it makes it $275 total.

Well maybe that's the problem! It really doesn't mess up the function of it as long as you don't mind stopping quickly to flip the ingredients out of the bottom with a silicone spatula thing.

Does it say somewhere on the mixer what model it is? I'm going to go look at mine.
